Technical Services
Interoperability
B. Braun Space Infusion Pumps have integrated with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems for AutoProgramming and AutoDocumentation, Real-Time location services for asset management, and Alarm Management Systems.
B. Braun is a charter member of Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) and follows the IHE PCD standards in communication and integrating with our partners.
- Device Enterprise Communication (DEC – PCD-01 AutoDocumentation)
- Infusion Pump Event Communication (IPEC – PCD-10 AutoDocumentation)
- Point-of-Care Infusion Verification (PIV – PCD-03 AutoProgramming)
- Alert Communication Management (ACM – PCD-04 AutoNotification)
- Medical Equipment Management Device Management Communication (MEMDMC – PCD-15 Device Information)
- Medical Equipment Management Location Services (MEMLS – PCD16 AutoLocation)
EHR Integration
Integration of Space Infusion pumps with an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system is designed to increase patient safety by significantly reducing manual entry with AutoProgramming and improve workflow allowing clinicians to spend more time with patients through AutoDocumentation.

Asset Utilization
Integration of Space Infusion pumps with a Real-Time Location System (RTLS) is designed to reduce costs through improved asset utilization and increased workflow efficiencies. Clinicians may spend more time in direct patient care by reducing search times for an available pump and remotely determining if the pump is available.
GuardRFID
The integration with GuardRFID® Asset Tracking Solution includes a bidirectional interface with B. Braun’s DoseTrac Infusion Management software. This integration provides pump status data to the Asset Tracking Solution so that users know not only where a pump is located but also if it is available. Adding location data to B. Braun’s DoseTrac Infusion Management software provides real-time views to help clinicians intercept errors and increase drug library compliance up to 100% with periodic compliance rounding.
Midmark RTLS
The integration with Midmark RTLS Asset Tracking + Management provides real-time visibility to pump status data so users know not only where a pump is located but also if it is available. If the pump is unavailable, Midmark RTLS displays the status duration, so nurses know how long it’s been in use. In addition, Midmark RTLS displays a “Download Ready” status when the device is plugged in and able to receive a drug library update.
The first health system integrated in 2017.
STANLEY Healthcare
The integration with STANLEY Healthcare’s AeroScout Real-Time Location System (RTLS) includes a bidirectional interface with B. Braun’s DoseTrac Infusion Management software. This integration provides pump status data to AeroScout RTLS so that users know not only where a pump is located but also if it is available. Aeroscout RTLS sends location data to DoseTrac real-time views to help clinicians intercept errors and increase drug library compliance up to 100% periodic compliance rounding.
The first health system to integrate occurred in 2018.
TeleTracking
Alarm Management
Integration of Space Infusion pumps with an Alarm Management System is designed to provide nurses with actionable and timely information through hospital defined prioritizations and customizable escalations, intended to reduce delays in therapy and reduce alarm fatigue.
Cerner CareAware
The integration with Cerner CareAware is designed to provide nurses with actionable and timely information through hospital defined prioritizations and customizable escalations, intended to reduce delays in therapy and reduce alarm fatigue. This integration requires an EHR integration to associate the patient to the pump.
Philips
The integration with Philips’ (Brand) alarm management system is designed to provide nurses with actionable and timely information through hospital defined prioritizations and customizable escalations, intended to reduce delays in therapy and reduce alarm fatigue. This integration requires an EHR integration to associate the patient to the pump.
Spok
The integration with Spok Care Connect alarm management provides nurses with actionable and timely information through hospital-defined prioritizations and customizable escalations to help minimize delays in therapy and reduce alarm fatigue. This integration requires an EHR integration to associate the patient to the pump.
Vocera®
The integration with Vocera Engage enables health systems to enhance patient safety by enabling filtering, routing, escalation, and prioritization of alarm notifications that clinicians receive on their device of choice. The Engage intelligent workflow engine is FDA 510(k) cleared middleware. It allows clinicians to receive only the communications and notifications they need, and make sure important information reaches the right recipient.
West-Com
The integration with West-Com Nurse Call Systems is designed to provide nurses with actionable and timely information through hospital defined prioritizations and customizable escalations, intended to reduce delays in therapy and reduce alarm fatigue. This integration is unique in that an EHR integration is not necessary to associate the patient to the pump.
The first health system to integrate occurred in 2019.
Monitoring Technologies
This integration is designed to promote data sharing and coordination amongst clinicians to improve workflows.
